Scalable COTS PCIe 5.0 networking
eBox 4 is a cost-efficient and scalable PCIe 5.0 expansion platform purpose-built for off-the-self implementation in high-performance systems with demanding workloads. Add PCIe 5.0 I/O slots where and when you need them inside eBox 4’s 4U 19” rack-mountable chassis.
Paired with Dolphin’s portfolio of passive PCIe 5.0 backplanes, the expansion system can be configured to accommodate up to eight PCIe 5.0 I/O cards per eBox. All PCIe slots are backwards compatible with PCIe devices 1.0 through 5.0. This flexibility makes eBox 4 ideally suited for embedded systems, rapid prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) workflows and much more.
Configure eBox 4 to fit your system needs
PCIe I/O cards installed in the eBox 4 will perform as if they were installed in the host system itself - no special software required. The eBox 4 expansion chassis can be placed up to 200 meters away from the host system, when deployed with a Dolphin host and target adapters.
PCIe Hot-Add
Dolphin’s eXpressWare and selection of PCIe NTB host adapters adds even more capabilities, with powerful features like Hot-Add, Device Lending, multicast and many more. Combine your desired number of PCIe 5.0 uplink- and I/O slots with the appropriate Dolphin NTB adapter to create a powerful expansion platform that answers your needs.

Dolphin PCIe host & target adapter cards
Dolphin offers a wide variety of PCI-SIG compliant PCIe host and target adapter cards, catering to any and all PCIe interconnect and expansion needs. Choose between cards offering SFF-8644, 8614, CDFP and MPO cable connectors, PCIe generation 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0, as well as cards with transparent bridging or non-transparent bridging (NTB).

Board Management software
The optional Dolphin Board Management Software for Linux and Windows systems is available for all cards. It supports PCIe inband monitoring of fans, error statistics, product temperature sensor, and firmware upgrades.
Our PCIe NTB host adapters include a perpetual license to Dolphin eXpressWare, our complete software suite for PCI Express. eXpressWare adds industry-leading functionality to your system, including Hot-Add, and our unique Device-Lending for IO migration and sharing and more.

Choose your eBox 4 expansion configuration
eBox 4 comes in a variety of configurations to best suit your needs. Each configuration utilizes one or more of Dolphin’s three passive PCIe 5.0 backplanes, with a total of 2, 3 or 5 PCIe slots, each of which includes its own PCIe 5.0 uplink slot.
