Dolphin interconnect manager

The Dolphin Interconnect Manager provides an easy tool for configuring and monitoring your Dolphin Clusters.

2D and 3D Torus SCI networks, built by using the D334, D352, D336 or D346 adapter cards, has redundant paths in a single network. This means that network failures (bad machines/cables/cards etc) can be bypassed and isolated by rerouting the network through a different part of the Torus. Traditional switched networks don't have this ability and require duplication of all network components in order to avoid single point of failure. Using the Dolphin Interconnect Manager, you can easily monitor and manage this automatic operation.

Key Product Features

    • Graphical GUI, available on most popular platforms.
    • Independent of Cluster OS, e.g. a Linux cluster can be managed from Windows.
    • Automatic failure detection and handling
    • Avoids single point of failure in a single network
    • Simplified diagnostic
    • Supports multiple concurrent clusters
    • Open source (GPL)

The NodeManager, NetworkManager and SCIAdmin form the Dolphin Interconnect Manager. The three modules communicate via TCP/IP. The frontend running SCIAdmin and NetworkManager can be a sepearte machine or one of the machines in the cluster. Typically each node runs NodeManager locally. NetworkManager controls all the NodeManagers of one system. The SCIAdmin is used to control the NetworkManager and graphically displays the information the NetworkManager holds.

The SCINodeManager is started on all nodes in the system, while there is only one instance of SCINetworkManager and SCIAdmin. To create a secure connection between the modules in an insecure network you should setup a ssh tunnel or VPN.
